About Silhouette Island
The exotic Silhouette Island named after Etienne de Silhouette, Controller General of Finances in France in the reign of Louis XV, is a forgotten world that represents Seychelles’ archipelago at its pristine best. Lying 20 kilometres northwest of Mahé Island it is the third-largest island of the granitic inner island group.
In 1987, the surrounding waters of Silhouette were designated as a Marine National Park and by 2010, the island’s own National Park was established, protecting an impressive 93% of its landmass. This safeguarded environment nurtures exceptional biodiversity, from native endemic birds like the Seychelles Kestrel, which also inhabits Mahe and Praslin, to rare amphibians, reptiles, bats, invertebrates and unique plant species.
Relax on Silhouette's stunning beaches or explore its hiking trails, which wind through the island's lush interior and trace the scenic coastline. Guided by a local expert, these hikes are highly recommended for an enriched experience.
Silhouette Island offers two top accommodations: the luxurious Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa with private villas, spa, multiple dining options, and scenic views; and Hôtel La Belle Tortue, a charming guesthouse in a picturesque bay, ideal for a tranquil, authentic experience on a beautiful private beach.
